Get Spicy with Sam & Cook for a Cause

Samantha Binkley

In celebration of Black History Month, we are encouraging our customers to support and promote black-owned businesses.

Samantha Binkley, the creator of Healthy on You, is not only doing amazing work in the health community, but also actively contributing to fight social injustices. Samantha started her career in marketing, but after starting a family, she found her true calling – healthy eating and teaching people how to cook. What started as a health coaching program, soon became much more.

Cook with Sam

Samantha started offering healthy cooking classes called “Cook with Sam.” Once a month, she opens up her home for a donation-based cooking class. She inspires re-creating favorite dishes with healthier substitutes. But “when replacing unhealthy fats and sodium dense ingredients, it became clear that seasonings were a way to do it. Of course, it had to be organic” so she started making her spices that didn’t have mission ingredients.

Samantha created her gourmet organic spice and salt company to fulfill this growing market. After, incorporating them into her recipes and its popularity grew. She now has an “edible playlist” of 12 handcrafted spice blends and 4 salt blends. This includes “Let the Good Thymes Roll, Bohemian Rosemary, Hit the Roast Jack, Lavender Fields Forever,” and many more creative plays on popular songs.

Due to the current state of the pandemic, Samantha is unable to cook with you in person. However, she is now offering virtual cooking classes on Sam’s Spicy Life. Her next class is Sunday, February 21, 2021, from 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm PST. Samantha will be guiding you through a classic southern recipe, Creole Shrimp. You can sign up via Eventbrite to claim a spot and contribute to social change.

North Star Fund: Let Us Breath Fund

Let Us Breath Fund, Color of Change, is the recipient of the next class’s donation and it is a cause close to Samantha’s heart. The current pandemic and political state have brought to light the many social injustices that are creating an imbalance in our society. For Samantha, it felt natural to be a part of meaningful change and progress. Energy needs to be put towards addressing these problems, or else history will continue to repeat itself.
